The complicated ties between Ashanti and Murder Inc. surfaced again this week after Chris Gotti voiced disappointment with how the singer responded to the death of his brother, Irv Gotti.

Speaking on “The Breakfast Club,” Chris shared that he expected more from the “Rain On Me” star, given their long history.
During the interview, Chris explained that her response did not sit well with him.
“I was upset because we haven’t spoke in person after Irv’s passing,” he said. “And I promise you, I’m the reason she was Murder Inc. Irv made the records, but Irv would’ve never gotten to that point if I don’t do what I did. For her not to call me after Irv’s passing, she text me, that don’t feel right. He mother, Tina, that don’t feel right. I did everything for them. Never did I get one thing in return. Don’t count tickets because I could get that myself.”
Before Irv’s passing, Ashanti had spoken with Angie Martinez on the “IRL” podcast, revealing that she had attempted to make peace with Irv. She said she wanted to let go of the past and rebuild some form of understanding. Chris’ perspective, however, reflects lingering bitterness and old wounds within Murder Inc. that have yet to fully heal.
Ashanti, who has publicly tried to close that chapter, has not responded to Chris’ comments.
