Co-Owner Of Popular Atlanta Lounge Killed In Shooting At His Nightclub

Police are investigating a shooting that left at least one man dead at popular Atlanta club Republic Lounge early Saturday.

The Atlanta Police Department received a call at about 6:55 a.m. that a person was shot at the West Midtown location. When officers arrived, they located a deceased male at the scene. The victim was identified as Michael Gidewon, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner.

A security guard that works at the club told 11 Alive that a patron was removed from the club for being too intoxicated. The person returned with a gun and began shooting. The security guard was told to call the police.

Justin Cartner, who was leaving when the intoxicated person was kicked out, told WSB-TV that a security guard said the club’s manager was the victim.

So far, no arrests have been made, and police do not know what led to the shooting.

This is a developing story.
