CoolKicks LA Warehouse Raided by LAPD, Founder Arrested for Alleged Counterfeit Sales

LAPD raids CoolKick

When news first broke about the LAPD raid involving CoolKicks founder Adeel Shams, early reports suggested he was arrested for selling counterfeit sneakers. Those initial details came from circulating posts and unverified online chatter.

However, the LAPD has now confirmed that Shams was arrested for receiving stolen property, not for selling fake merchandise. According to the department’s official press release, detectives with the LAPD Commercial Crimes Division, Cargo Theft Unit recovered approximately $500,000 in stolen Nike goods during an investigation earlier this month.

The items included more than 2,100 pairs of Nike sneakers and 150 cartons of Nike apparel, many of which were described as unreleased or limited-edition products. Investigators say the merchandise had been stolen from a freight shipment, and Shams was booked for violating California Penal Code 496(a), which covers the possession or purchase of known stolen goods.

CoolKicks, founded by Shams and known for its exclusive sneaker resales and celebrity clientele, has become a landmark in Los Angeles sneaker culture. The store has drawn attention from athletes, artists, and influencers who trust the brand for authentic and high-demand footwear.

The LAPD emphasized that this case has nothing to do with counterfeit shoes or financial fraud. Instead, it is part of a larger cargo theft investigation focused on stolen commercial goods. Authorities are continuing to track the origins of the merchandise and potential additional suspects.

Correction and Clarification

Baller Alert originally reported that Shams was arrested for selling counterfeit goods based on early and unverified reports circulating online. However, after reviewing the official LAPD press release and related public records, we have confirmed that Shams was arrested for receiving stolen Nike merchandise, not counterfeit or fake items.

We are issuing this correction to ensure our readers have the most accurate and verified information available regarding this developing story.
