LAPD has certainly been on edge since this week’s rash of protests began popping up all over Los Angeles in support of Trayvon Martin. Although they have been peaceful for the most part, the police department has been quite cautious in attempt to avoid rioting. I guess in this attempt, rapper Nipsey Hussle found himself with the short end of the stick. Could this be the very profiling that the Trayvon Martin case was all about? Possibly.
It is being reported that during a peaceful protest yesterday at Leimert Park in Los Angeles, cops believed that rapper Nipsey Hussle, real name Ermias Asghedom, was brandishing a weapon. The suspicion lead police officers to cuff Nipsey and search him. Pretty awkward when you’re not packing any heat, which Nipsey wasn’t. He was later let go.
So my question is, what could he possibly be doing that would have made cops think he had a weapon, only to find out he didn’t. Either they didn’t run his name or his name is clean because he wasn’t arrested for anything. Maybe the tattoos set it off. Profiling is real.
