Costco Recalling Frozen Breaded Chicken Patties Due to Plastic Contamination

Costco recalls a popular item after it was reported that pieces of plastic were found in the frozen fully-cooked breaded chicken patties.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that the massive grocery store giant would be forced to package up 150,000 pounds of chicken patty products. The plastic pieces were described as clear and hard, possibly sharp and causing an injury.

Thus far, no one has been contaminated with plastic, but the recall has been classified as a “Class 1” hazard meaning “there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death,” according to FSIS.

With an expiration date of August 11, 2023, Costco distribution centers were majorly impacted in Arizona, California, Colorado, Utah, and Washington. Retail locations may have also been affected, as the chicken was distributed to the centers during the summer.

The FSIS directs anyone with chicken patties from Costco to check the date and throw out the prod
