Whether from loyal fans or curious listeners, D4vd’s streams have seen a boost following the discovery of a dead teenager in the trunk of his Tesla. Even more intriguing, the singer appears to have had a relationship with the girl before her passing.
The shocking discovery of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas’ remains hasn’t slowed D4vd’s momentum one bit. In fact, the artist behind the haunting viral hit “Romantic Homicide” is seeing some of the biggest numbers of his career.
As of this week, D4vd’s debut album “Petals to Thorns” has reentered the Billboard 200, over a year after its original release. The jump back into the charts came just days after news broke of the ongoing homicide investigation involving the teenage girl’s death. The vehicle she was found in, a Tesla, was linked directly to D4vd.
Despite the seriousness of the investigation, fans are streaming his music in droves. Reports show a massive surge in listens, with “Romantic Homicide” racking up over 12 million streams in just one day. That track, which dropped back in 2022, has now become his most-streamed song to date.
Some of the disturbing lyrics include: “In the back of my mind, I killed you/ And I didn’t even regret it/ I can’t believe I said it/ But it’s true.”
While Interscope Records has pulled back on promotional support and D4vd has canceled his remaining tour dates in the U.S., U.K., and Europe, the public’s curiosity appears to be fueling his rise even more.
Detectives continue to dig for answers, awaiting forensic and toxicology reports that could reveal more about Celeste’s cause of death. Fans online have circulated theories for weeks, some even alleging a past relationship between D4vd and a minor.
