Dame Dash Says Jay-Z “Put His Bid In” for Aaliyah — But She Chose Him Instead [Video]

Dame Dash pulled up to “The POV Show” ready to settle the conversations people keep trying to reopen. He didn’t come to dance around the questions; he came to speak his truth. Early in the interview, the hosts showed a photo of Dame and Diddy in a club, and he immediately shut down the narrative.

Then the conversation shifted to Aaliyah, the question everyone still debates: Where would she be today if she were still here? Dame didn’t hold back.

“Astronomical,” he said. “You couldn’t even understand where it would’ve been…She was doing ‘The Matrix.’ She had a hindsight and a vision. Again, I know I’m the coolest because she loved me. She told me I was the coolest. I gotta be the coolest.

And then came the rumor that never dies. He was asked if he dated her after Jay-Z dated her first, which he immediately shut down. Dame didn’t flinch.

“My artist did not, he was trying her. Everybody put they bid in,” he explained before addressing the code he lives by.

“I’m never, ever wifing a girl that any of my friend’s smashed. It’s not happening,”  he firmly stated. “We were both putting in our bid. None of us had scored. That’s how it went…Just cause he tried and gave flowers and got denied, don’t mean I can’t try and win.”

When questioned about if Dame ever pursued any of Hov’s other love interests, he quickly shut that down as well, making it clear this was never his character.
