Dame Dash Slams Streaming Platforms & Social Media For Fueling Rap Beefs Through Algorithms [Video]

Dame Dash is fed up with deadly rap beef and believes that social media and streaming platforms play a significant role in fueling the chaos.

During a recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” series, the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder explained that social media and streaming algorithms push violence onto the Black community. According to Dash, algorithms are “controlling us right now” by constantly peddling rap beef. He even offered a solution, explaining that YouTube should discontinue paying for content that promotes violence in music. Instead, he encourages the platform to focus more on positivity.

“It’s a program, you know? It’s knowing how to trigger people, and it’s profitable… our dysfunction. But what needs to be profitable is our love and our unity, and that’s what has to be showcased. But no one shows that” he told Sharpe.

Dash’s comments come as New York City Mayor Eric Adams pushes to ban drill music due to an uptick in murders involving drill rappers. Hip-hop overall has experienced a rash of shocking homicides, some of which stemming from feuds with other rappers. This is most apparent in the 2020 death of King Von and speculated in the 2021 death of Young Dolph.

Dash says he refuses to bring harm to anyone “with the same color skin as me” and encourages others to think the same.
