Damson Idris is finally setting the record straight regarding the constant buzz linking him to the future of Wakanda.
While walking the red carpet at the 83rd Annual Golden Globes, the Snowfall actor was asked by Variety about the viral theories that he has been tapped to lead “Black Panther 3.”
Idris was quick to acknowledge the fan support but made sure to distinguish between internet hype and reality.
“I am thankful to the fans,” he shared. “Of course it’s rumor, but I love that movie. I love the world.”
The conversation around Idris joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe has intensified as the studio moves closer to the third installment of the blockbuster franchise. While Chadwick Boseman’s portrayal of T’Challa remains a singular legacy, fans have spent years debating how the character’s story should continue. Whether through a multiversal variant or an aged version of T’Challa’s son, Toussaint, Idris has consistently remained the top pick for the role in online circles.
Despite the noise, the actor remained respectful of the existing films, adding, “I’m glad that everyone seeing the future of that too.” While he confirmed that current reports are just speculation, Idris has previously admitted that he wouldn’t hesitate if a real offer were on the table.
Although he isn’t currently suiting up as a Marvel hero, his latest response shows he is keeping a close eye on the franchise as both a fan and a potential future star. Until Marvel makes an official announcement, the conversation remains one of the biggest “what-ifs” in Hollywood.
