“A Time to Grieve and a Time to Heal”: Afrobeats Star Davido Breaks Silence Following Death of Son, Announces New Album

Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Davido officially returned to social media this week with a message for his fans.

The artist had been on a months-long hiatus following the tragic loss of his son, Ifeanyi.

The three-year-old died in October 2022 after drowning in a pool at the singer’s residence in Lagos.

On Tuesday, Davido tweeted, “There is a time for everything. A time to grieve and a time to heal. A time to laugh and a time to dance. A time to speak & a time for silence. Thank you to everyone out there for your love that has held me down.”

The singer has been out of the spotlight since tragedy struck, only briefly returning to music when performing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The “Fall” singer also postponed his festival, Davido: Are We African Yet?, due to the news of his son. It will now take place on November 18, 2023.

In addition to returning to social media, he is also returning to music with an album called Timeless.

“All the love and messages while I was away, the gifts sent, the concerts you all threw! I appreciate it all. Today, I want to remind you all that what is now  Timeless was once new. It’s time for new,” Davido said on Twitter.

The album will be released on March 31.
