Deion Sanders’ 57th birthday just got a whole lot more special, as the football legend welcomed his first grandson on the same day!
During a press conference on Friday, the Colorado football head coach shared the heartwarming news that his daughter, Deiondra, gave birth to a baby boy on his birthday. Sanders was overjoyed, calling it a true blessing.
“That’s how good God is,” Sanders said. “God chose my birthday for my daughter to have her first child, making me a grandfather for the first time. Do you understand how beautiful and blessed that is?”
Sanders, who has five children, also took a moment during the press conference to send a loving message to Deiondra. “God bless you, Deiondra. I love you, baby girl.”
Deiondra, who hasn’t publicly addressed the birth yet, announced back in March that she was expecting a baby with R&B star Jacquees. The couple got engaged during their baby shower last month.
While Sanders’ new grandson is undoubtedly the best birthday gift he could ask for, his team also celebrated him at practice by serenading him. Coach Prime, however, had a different birthday wish.
“My wish is that you all become professionals,” the Hall of Famer told his players. “Not just professional athletes, but professionals in life. Wonderful fathers, wonderful men, wonderful women as well.”
