Ballerific Fashion: Interesting Designer Handbags That’ll Make or Break Any Outfit

Let’s face it, just because a brand is considered high-end doesn’t mean they always get it right.

While we cannot always understand the ideology behind such sometimes dreadful masterworks, many visionaries find solace in unfavorable pieces, particularly handbags. As we all know, a purse can make or break an entire look, depending heavily on the accessorizing skills of the fashionista. Many luxury brands understand this, which is why they often push the envelope with odd purses that should, in some cases, be banished to the darkest pits of hell.

Nevertheless, take a look at our favorite hideous handbags with an even uglier price tag to match.

Givenchy Ceramic Bag in 3D Acrylic with Chain – $6,250

This unique handbag is a collaboration with designer Josh Smith and is a part of the 4G Print collection for Givenchy’s Spring/Summer 22 line. The bag is a ceramic bleach jug with distressed blue paint on the top and around the middle, with Givenchy painted within the blue strip. A silver-finish G Cube chain shoulder strap allows it to be worn comfortably on the shoulder, though no one should be wearing this purse anywhere.

Judith Leiber Couture Pancake Crystal Minaudiere Bag – $6,495

Typically, Judith Leiber strikes gold with their quirky everyday objects transformed into crystal-covered handbags. However, this pancake-shaped handbag is not the best the brand offers. Though beautifully constructed with European crystals, brass, and leather lining, there is no practical outfit that would warrant the use of a bedazzled IHOP full pancake stack.

Chanel 2014 XXL Shopping Basket Bag – $69,870

Beyoncé once said, “Got a lot of bands, got a lot of Chanel on me.” However, it is unlikely the Chanel 2014 XXL Shopping Basket Bag would be the Queen’s preferred double C bag of choice. The discontinued purse is only available for resale on sites such as Farfetch.com and sells for nearly $70,000. The silver hardware connects to resemble a grocery basket with Chanel’s signature leather and chain-link straps wrapping around the top handles and the rest of the basket bag. Though this is a collector’s item, it certainly is not the prettiest offering from the legendary company.

JW Anderson Pigeon Clutch Bag – $890

Though the least expensive ugly bag on the list, the JW Anderson Pigeon Clutch Bag deserves every bit of the roasting it’s about to get. As if we as a society have not endured enough, JW Anderson felt consumers needed a bird-shaped bag to set the Fall off. The wings of the bag open to resemble a bird flying, only to reveal a compartment just big enough for a cell phone, small wallet, and keys. This bag does not come with straps of any kind, which gives the illusion that someone is actually carrying around a pigeon.

Balenciaga Trash Pouch – $1,790

Last but certainly not least the viral Balenciaga Trash Pouch that should have never seen the light of day. Balenciaga is notorious for its outrageous releases that test the limits of how far some people are willing to go for the sake of fashion. The trash pouch is an unbranded bag that looks identical to a large trash bag. As part of the Winter 2022 collection, the bag has somehow already sold out.

As the old saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and it will undoubtedly take someone with a creative vision to sport any of these unattractive handbags.
