Sean “Diddy” Combs just notched another legal victory. A judge has thrown out nearly all of the claims brought against him by former “Making The Band 2” singer Sara Rivers.
The court dismissed 21 out of 22 allegations from Rivers’ lawsuit, including serious accusations such as racketeering, assault and battery, forced labor, false imprisonment, and sexual harassment. The dismissal was “with prejudice,” meaning Rivers cannot refile those claims.
The only charge still hanging is under the Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act. The judge said he is waiting on guidance from a higher court before deciding its fate. Back in February, Rivers filed her complaint through attorney Ariel Mitchell, accusing Diddy of “hostile and inhumane treatment” while filming “Making The Band 2.” The lawsuit cited the infamous cheesecake walk from the show as one example of the alleged mistreatment.
Rivers said she was made to sleep in an open bay with four male cast members despite being married at the time. She also claimed she was threatened with removal from the show if she didn’t follow instructions.
The lawsuit alleged Diddy “maliciously and recklessly” harmed her career by breaking up the group and taking the bulk of the show earnings. Rivers also accused him of once cornering her, blocking her exit, and brushing his hand across her chest.
The suit also named MTV, Viacom, UMG, Diddy’s mother Janice, and former assistant Fonzworth Bentley.
Mitchell stated, “We plan to appeal — and we look forward to more litigation specifically against Mr. Combs.”
This ruling follows Diddy’s not guilty verdict this summer in a high-profile federal case.
