This summer, Disney will officially endorse a Gay Pride event for the first time ever, at France’s #Disneyland Paris. ‘The Magical Pride Celebration’ will have its inaugural event on June 1, 2019, and will feature the Magical March of Diversity Parade as a continued effort to support the LGBTQ communities around the world.
Magical Pride has been an unofficial Disney Paris event since 2014, and both Disney World and Disneyland have hosted ‘Gay Days,’ which is described as “a mousey party for gay couples and families.” Disney cruises have also been chartered by LGBT organizations.
Recently, Disney has been moving closer towards a cultural shift, slowly incorporating openly LGBT characters into its tv shows and animated movies (including an LGBT background character in Frozen). According to Daily Wire, the upcoming Disney live-action film, Jungle Cruise, will feature the first openly gay character in a Disney live action movie.
