The ex-girlfriend of Djimon Hounsou has filed an order of protection against the actor one week after she was arrested for assault.
Court records obtained by TMZ show Ri’za Marie Simpson, who shares a child with Hounsou, formally requested the order, saying she has been subjected to financial abuse and an unlawful eviction from Hounsou’s Atlanta home. Simpson also maintains that her recent arrest was unjust and tied to an ongoing dispute between the former couple.
In her filing, Simpson described a December 2025 confrontation in which she claims Hounsou slammed a car door, yelled directly in her face, and repeatedly insulted her. She also pointed to an earlier incident from October 2025, alleging that Hounsou confronted her aggressively in front of children during an argument.
A judge has granted the temporary protection order. As part of the ruling, Hounsou must remain at least 200 yards away from Simpson and her children. The matter is scheduled to be revisited in court during a hearing set for early February.
Audio from the December incident, which has circulated publicly, captures Simpson demanding keys to access the residence and stating that she would contact police if entry was denied. Hounsou has since claimed that Simpson struck him across the face with an open hand during that exchange. Authorities later arrested Simpson on January 16 on charges of simple assault and obstruction of justice after a warrant was issued. She was taken into custody again on January 20 after being accused of providing false information to police.
Hounsou also shares a child with Kimora Lee Simmons.
