Detroit Lions Fan Files $100 Million Lawsuit After Being Punched by Steelers Star DK Metcalf

A fan altercation that spilled out of an NFL stadium is now headed into a much bigger arena: federal court. A Detroit Lions season ticket holder who was punched during a game involving the Pittsburgh Steelers has filed a $100 million lawsuit, naming wide receiver DK Metcalf, along with Chad Ochocinco Johnson and multiple media companies.

Ryan Kennedy, represented by Marko Law Firm, alleges defamation tied to public claims made after the incident. According to the lawsuit, Ochocinco falsely stated that Kennedy directed a racial slur at Metcalf and used another offensive word toward Metcalf’s mother. Metcalf himself has never publicly said a racial slur was used.

During a press conference, Kennedy directly denied those allegations and appealed to Metcalf by his legal name.

“I didn’t use any racial slurs, no hate speech. I mean, none of that stuff at the game. Actually never. 15 years season ticket holder for the Lions, I’ve never done that at all. So, to DeKaylin, if you’re watching this man, just if you could just say that, please,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy has previously claimed the conflict escalated after he referred to Metcalf by his full legal name, a point he again emphasized while repeatedly calling him DeKaylin at the press conference.

Attorney Jon Marko stressed the broader implications of the accusation in a formal statement.

“The N-Word is the most offensive and inflammatory racial slur in the English language. No other word expresses so much hatred and bigotry. Falsely accusing someone of using that word hurts not only the person falsely accused, but hurts every true victim of racial hatred and bigotry,” Marko said.

The lawsuit seeks damages tied to reputational harm, emotional distress, and the lasting impact of the public claims. As of now, neither Metcalf nor Ochocinco has responded publicly to the filing.
