DMX Allegedly Owes The State Of New York Nearly $220K In Back Taxes

The state of New York is accusing DMX, real name Earl Simmons, of owing them a few hundred thousand in back taxes, according to BOSSIP.

The warrant, obtained by the site, was filed by the state of New York’s Division of Taxation;  and states that the rapper owes a total of $224,845 in state income taxes.

You may remember, this isn’t DMX’s first (tax) rodeo. In July 2017, he was charged with 14 federal counts of tax fraud after failing to file his taxes from 2010 to 2015, during which he earned at least $2.2 million. He was released in January 2019 after being sentenced to one year in prison.⠀

The rapper’s lawyer, Murray Richman, says he did anticipate that the state would be filing a lien against X but hasn’t yet shared how his client plans to clear the debt.
