Dole Introducing Its “Sweetest Pineapple Ever” Harvested In Costa Rica

As if pineapples aren’t already known for their sweetness, Dole Food Company is introducing its “sweetest pineapple ever.”

The enhanced spiked fruit is not something Dole can offer on a regular basis. This naturally grown pineapple is only sprouted in Costa Rica under pristine conditions. The company will begin offering it seasonally but only in limited quantities. This exclusive pineapple is a “deeper golden color” that is noticeably different than the usual whole pineapples seen in grocery stores. Customers will notice a “juicier tropical flavor” and enhanced fragrance.

The fruit has not been factory altered in any way. Instead, Dole has invested in sustainability farming in the Central American country. The region’s rich soils and tropical climates make the pineapples much richer. Dubbed the “Golden Selection,” Dole says only a handful of these pineapples make the cut. Expert growers ensure that each is “ripened to perfection” and “picked with precise timing at their peak.” Each “Golden Selection” pineapple must meet color and taste standards. Only 6% of the crop at designated Costa Rica farms will make it to store shelves. In its 122-year history, Dole has prided itself on growing the finest pineapples in Hawaii and Central and South America.

“While all Dole pineapples are tender, sweet, and packed with nutrients, healthy enzymes, and Vitamins B6 and C, these new Golden Selection Pineapples glow and taste just a little brighter,” stated Dole Director of Corporate Communications William Goldfield.

Dole will begin shipping “Golden Selection” fruit to stores in the U.S. and Canada this month.
