Over the weekend, a crowd of Trump supporters in Dallas booed Donald Trump after he revealed he received a booster shot for the Covid-19 vaccine.

On Sunday night, Trump made the disclosure at the final stop of The History Tour during a live interview show he was doing with former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly.

“Both the president and I are vaxxed,” O’Reilly said at the American Airlines Center.

“Did you get the booster?” he asked the former president. “Yes,” Trump responded. “I got it, too,” O’Reilly said, eliciting more hectoring.

“Don’t! Don’t! Don’t! Don’t! Don’t!” Trump told the crowd, waving off their reaction with his hand.

Although Trump has opposed vaccine requirements, he has always claimed credit for vaccines developed under his supervision, something he reiterated throughout the interview.

“We got a vaccine done,” he said, telling supporters that wariness of the vaccine was “playing into the hands” of his opponents. “Don’t take it away from ourselves. You’re playing right into their hands when you sort of like, ‘oh the vaccine’ … no mandates, but take credit.”

Despite the fact that Republicans are significantly less likely than Democrats to be protected, he has refused to encourage his supporters to take them.

While other international leaders, such as Mike Pence, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris, received their doses in public to promote the lifesaving vaccine, Trump chose to receive his dose in secret, indicating that the vaccination is unpopular with a substantial portion of his constituency.

While accusing the Biden administration of vaccination skepticism, he ignored public health guidelines while in office, pushing untested treatments and downplaying the virus’ threat to promote economic recovery and win reelection.

In a September interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trump said he “probably” wouldn’t get a booster shot.
The US government has urged all eligible Americans to obtain booster shots as soon as possible since the country is experiencing an outbreak of the new, extremely contagious omicron variant, which just surpassed delta to become the dominant variant in the US.
