Donald Trump Expects To Be Arrested Tuesday in Connection To Manhattan Investigation

Donald Trump made a social media post on Saturday, claiming he expects to be arrested on Tuesday in connection with an investigation led by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.  He has called on his supporters to protest in advance of his possible indictment.

Trump’s post on Truth Social reads, “THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!”

According to USA Today, prosecutors are investigating Trump’s alleged $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016 to keep quiet about an earlier affair.  However, Trump denies the allegation.  Federal investigators previously looked into the matter but ended their investigation in 2019.

It is possible that Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer who allegedly arranged the payment, may help bring charges against Trump, which would be unprecedented in terms of charges against a former president.  The New York Attorney General’s office has not made any statements regarding the matter.  However, Manhattan prosecutors reportedly met with Daniels earlier this week, after which she thanked the attorney for “helping” her in their “continuing fight for truth and justice.”
