Almost a year later, Donald Trump can’t stop taking shots at Republican Georgia Governor Brian Kemp. At a rally on Saturday, the former president suggested Stacey Abrams, a Democrat who ran for governor against Kemp in 2018, take his place.
Trump took time out to double down on his regret for endorsing Kemp in the election.
“Stacey, would you like to take his place? It’s ok with me,” Trump said.”It’s ok with me.”
The digs continue a trend by Trump to last out against Republicans who did not buy into his false claims of election fraud and ridiculous conspiracy theories.
“Having her, I think, might be better than having your existing governor if you want to know the truth,” he said. “Might very well be better.”
He later called Kemp a “disaster.”
Kemp has drawn the ire of Trump since the 2020 presidential election, which Trump lost. Kemp was unwilling to pressure Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to overturn President Joe Biden’s win in the state and the decision to certify the election results.
