DraftKings & FanDuel Will Stop Betting In New York While Appeal Pending

Daily fantasy sites FanDuel and DraftKings have agreed to stop taking paid bets in New York, while their appeal hearings are pending. The announcement was made by the state attorney general on Monday.

In exchange, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman will wait until the appeals hearing that could possibly require DraftKings and FanDuel, to pay restitution to participants who lost money playing on the sites.

”As I’ve said from the start, my job is to enforce the law, and starting today, DraftKings and FanDuel will abide by it,” said Schneiderman in a statement.

Spokesmen for both sites released statements saying that they would seek to clarify state law to allow their New York customers to play without ambiguity.

While several states have prohibited the sites from operation some are still awaiting New York’s decision.
