Eight People, Including 12-Year-Old Injured In Back-To-Back Shootings In Washington, D.C. [Video]

Eight people, including a 12-year-old girl, were injured in two shootings in Washington, D.C., on Friday night.

Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of shots fired in the Southeast part of the city at about 10 p.m. Assistant Chief Andre Wright said during a press conference that when officers arrived, they located seven men who had been shot. None had life-threatening injuries, and most self-transported to the hospital.

A short time later, a second shooting was reported not far from where the first shooting took place. Officers discovered a 12-year-old girl had been shot in the leg.

Wright said police are investigating the shootings as related, given their close proximity, but all information is preliminary. He said witnesses at the first shooting saw a black car described as “possibly a Mercedes” pull up and begin firing “indiscriminately” at a group of people.

Investigators are still working to determine if any witnesses saw the same vehicle at the second location.

So far, no suspects have been arrested in connection to the shooting. Wright said that no motive had been identified. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

“We’re asking anybody who has anything, especially if it’s motive, if it’s lookout, was there Interpersonal conflict?” Wright said. “Whatever it may be, all the information is helpful to us. So please come forward and assist us.”
