Emily B Breaks Her Silence for the First Time on Daughter Journey’s Autism and PHACE Syndrome

Emily B gave her followers a deeply personal look at her family when she posted a photo with her children and grandchildren and shared a message about her daughter, Journey.

In the caption, Emily revealed that Journey is autistic, nonverbal, has sensory processing challenges, and was born with PHACE syndrome, which she described as a very rare congenital condition. According to the Cleveland Clinic, PHACE syndrome is a rare condition that can affect multiple parts of a child’s body, including their skin, brain, heart, major arteries, and eyes. The most common types of abnormalities in children with PHACE syndrome include hemangiomas, cerebrovascular defects, and heart defects.

The former stylist said she kept that part of her life private publicly because the situation felt sacred, not because she felt shame or lacked love for her daughter. She also wrote that Journey “experiences the world differently” and has changed her in ways she still cannot fully put into words.

Emily spoke honestly about the fear, learning, and strength that shaped her as a mother, but she made love the center of the message. She chose World Autism Awareness Day to share Journey’s story and said visibility matters.

She also directed followers to A Special Journey, the platform she plans to use to share more about Journey and autism awareness. So this was more than a family photo. It was Emily B opening the door to a chapter she is finally ready to share.
