The man who terrorized Eminem for years, breaking into his home not once but twice, has officially been sentenced to serious prison time.

Matthew David Hughes, 32, will serve between 15 and 30 years for first-degree home invasion and an additional three to seven years and six months for aggravated stalking. He won’t even be considered for parole until he’s served at least 18 years.

Back in 2020, Hughes entered Eminem’s Detroit-area home and told the rapper, “I’m going to kill you,” according to police testimony. He initially took a plea deal and received five years of probation. But after violating that probation with an assault charge, Hughes was released on parole in May 2024—only to return to Eminem’s property three months later and get arrested again.

At his May trial this year, where Eminem took the stand, Hughes was found guilty on both charges. He never posted his $500,000 bond and has remained locked up since last August. He’s also banned from any future contact with Eminem.

This wasn’t Hughes’ first time showing up uninvited. In 2019, he was found sleeping in a guest house at a former Eminem property. Now, after years of disturbing behavior, Hughes is finally facing real consequences.
