End of an Era for Duke Basketball.

As the 2014-2015 season has came to an end, Duke’s Men’s Basketball program will be without a familiar name. And before ya’ll get nervous it’s not Coach K.
When the class of 2015 graduates this spring, the Blue Devils lose what has became a familar name to there program. Marshall Plumlee is the player that is ending this era. Since 2008, the Blue Devils have had a Plumlee brother on their squad.
Miles began this families run as Blue Devils when he joined the team in 2008. Miles went to high school in the good state of North Carolina as well. In 2012, he finished Duke and was drafted into the NBA by the Indiana Pacers. But this wasn’t before his little brother joined him as a Blue Devil.
Mason was the next Plumlee to become a Blue Devil. Mason was right behind Miles as he joined the team in 2009. His span as a Blue Devil lasted until 2013 when he was then drafted by the Brooklyn Nets.
The last Plumlee brother became a Blue Devil in 2012, the following fall after Miles had graduated. Marshall joined his older brother Mason on the team. In the spring, Marshall will be graduating Duke and joining the military. This is unlike his older brothers who are both NBA players.
A common name that has been beside each of the Plumlee brother’s name is Quinn Cook. Cook has played with all 3 of the Plumlees. He will be graduating in the spring along side follow Blue Devil, Marshall.
All 3 played Center while Miles and Mason have played some power forward over their career. Miles wasn’t always a Duke commit but he transferred once little brother Mason signed with the Blue Devils.
These 3 brothers have one more thing in common about their career that may be more special than all having played with Cook. Each of the Plumlee brothers have a National Championship under their belt. Miles and Mason was on the 2010 Duke team that beat Butler to win the National Championship. The 2015, have Marshall a ring of his own in his senior season. Duke defeated Wisconson on April 6th for their 5 National Championship.
Miles and Mason are both currently playing in the NBA. Mason has been with the Nets since they drafted him. Miles hasn’t had the same NBA path as little brother but is now playing for the Milwaukee Bucks.
How will Duke fans fell not hearing the name Plumlee anymore? Well, we will have to see to find out. Maybe if they have sons of their own one day we will see another Plumlee in a Blue Devil uniform.
