Erica Banks Pulled Over in Stolen Car, Cops Say Ecstasy Was in Her Purse–Booked on Intent to Distribute

Erica Banks’ rise in hip‑hop now faces a serious legal hurdle. The rapper and former cast member of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” was arrested on December 8 by Brookhaven police in Georgia during a traffic stop. The stop reportedly happened on Buford Highway. According to booking information she was charged with “possession of a Schedule II controlled substance with intent to distribute.”

Authorities say the vehicle she was riding in displayed a tinted tag and dealer plates. A check revealed the car had reportedly been marked stolen. During the stop, officers found several ecstasy pills in her purse and marijuana packets with the driver. This is not Banks’ first brush with the law. In August she was arrested at Atlanta’s Hartsfield‑Jackson Airport after TSA discovered a stolen firearm in her carry‑on bag. She told authorities she did not know the weapon was stolen and claimed it belonged to her security.

At the time of her latest arrest she was booked into DeKalb County Jail and later released. No bond amount has been publicly disclosed, and her representatives have not issued a comment.
