Will Packer, the man behind some of our favorite culture-defining films, sat down with Baller Alert’s Nya at a recent event to discuss his latest project, Fight Night. Known for producing movies that resonate deeply with the culture, Packer has always been selective about the stories he chooses to bring to life. This time, he’s taken on a gripping story from Atlanta’s history that many might not know about.

When asked what drew him to this particular project, Packer revealed that he was initially unfamiliar with the story, but it quickly captivated him. “It’s an incredible story,” Packer shared. “My wife and I were talking about how it was unbelievable for this to be one of the biggest heists in not just Atlanta history but Georgia history—and really, one of the biggest heists in the country.”

Packer’s excitement for the project is palpable. He sees it as more than just a thrilling heist story; it’s an opportunity to shine a light on a significant event in Southern, Black, and Atlanta culture. “It’s powerful to be able to tell this story and retell it in a way that brings all of this to the forefront,” Packer added.

For Packer, it’s all about continuing the legacy of telling great stories that are often underrepresented. He highlighted his commitment to bringing untold narratives to the big screen, particularly those that highlight Black culture and Southern heritage. “That’s what I try to do,” he said, emphasizing the importance of people like Ty Cole and others who are dedicated to sharing these stories.

As the interview wrapped up, Packer expressed his gratitude for those who are passionate about storytelling and representation. “Thank you, my sister. We appreciate it,” he said warmly before signing off.
