Family Holding Company For Pablo Escobar Is Suing 2 Chainz For $10 Million For Using Escobar’s Likeness For Atlanta Restaurant

Escobar Inc., the family holding company for the late Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, is suing 2 Chainz over his Atlanta restaurant’s name.

According to TMZ, Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz is being sued for “at least $10 million” for using the name “Escobar” on social media, websites, and as the name of his Atlanta-based restaurant, Escobar Restaurant and Tapas. Escobar’s name has been trademarked, which is why the company has filed a lawsuit against Chainz for violating federal law by using Escobar’s name and likeness without permission.

TMZ obtained documents from the company stating 2 Chainz used Pablo’s image to boost revenue, as the drug lord is painted in one of the restaurants, and there is an item on the restaurant’s menu that is named “Escobar Crab Cakes,” which is also listed on their website. Escobar’s estate wants all of the items and names removed as well as payment for the damage that’s been done.

This is the latest hit the restaurant has taken. Last month, two of Chainz’s establishments were shut down for allegedly violating Georgia’s social distancing guidelines.
