The mystery surrounding the disappearance of a six-year-old boy in Texas is deepening as police now know his family fled the country shortly after officials began searching for him.
Police in Everman have been searching for Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez since Texas Child Protective Services received a tip on March 20th informing them that no one had seen the child since November 2022. To find out what could have happened to Rodriguez-Alvarez, authorities must now piece together the previous four months.
However, the case took a shocking turn on Saturday morning, just after an Amber Alert was issued for the child. The vehicle belonging to his mother, Cindy Rodriguez-Singh, was found parked in a garage at DFW International Airport. She, her six other children, and her husband boarded a flight to Istanbul, Turkey. Police believe once there; they flew to India. Prior to her sudden departure with all of her children except for Rodriguez-Alvarez, Cindy told police that he was in Mexico visiting his father. However, the father told authorities that was not true and that he never got the chance to meet his son. The father was deported before Rodriguez-Alvarez was born, which was also confirmed by the Department of Homeland Security. Rodriguez-Alvarez was not enrolled in school due to severe multiple physical and developmental disabilities, but several of his siblings were. Oddly, shortly before Cindy’s departure, she unenrolled four of her children, aged 7 to 11, out of Everman ISD.
Cindy stopped cooperating with law enforcement, going silent before officials learned she’d fled the country. Child Protective Services had made contact with the family several times, though details of those investigations remain sealed. On Monday, law enforcement brought in a cadaver dog to help them scour the family’s former home, which is a small shed-like structure behind the house of an elderly property owner who was close to the family. That individual was recently hospitalized and expected Cindy and her husband to pick him up once discharged, but they never showed up. He has been cooperative with the investigation.
Police found nothing in their Monday search and are racing against the clock to find Rodriguez-Alvarez. The young boy requires regular medication and occasional oxygen treatments. While no evidence supports that Rodriguez-Alvarez has died, Everman Police Chief Craig Spencer is extremely concerned for his safety.
“What I do know is that a 6-year-old, severely disabled boy cannot be accounted for and is missing, the mother has not been willing to cooperate with investigators to help us simply assure the child is safe, and we desperately need the public’s help,” Spencer stated.
