Fashion mogul Tom Ford has made waves with his latest real estate acquisition, purchasing a stunning mansion in London’s upscale Chelsea neighborhood for a staggering $104 million.
The deal, which closed over the summer, makes this property the most expensive residential sale in the United Kingdom this year. The previous owner reportedly bought the mansion nearly two decades ago for just $20 million. Nevertheless, Ford had no issue paying the much more inflated price. This luxurious estate joins Ford’s already impressive portfolio, which spans across New York, Los Angeles, Aspen, Palm Beach, and the Hamptons. The combined value of his properties exceeds $250 million, according to MSN’s property records.
Ford’s real estate ventures are just one part of his incredible legacy. Having served as Gucci’s creative director before founding his own label in 2005 with Domenico De Sole, Ford saw his brand flourish. The fashion empire was sold to Estée Lauder in a blockbuster $2.8 billion deal in 2022, propelling his net worth to over $2 billion.
Following the sale and the passing of his partner, Richard Buckley, in 2021, rumors swirled that Ford might be stepping away from his design work. After 13 years leading his namesake brand, Ford bid farewell to fashion in April 2023 with his final collection for Fall 2023. Haider Ackermann now oversees the creative direction of Ford’s label, taking over in September after Peter Hawkings’ brief tenure.
