Fat Joe Regrets “Outing” Anthony Mason In Biggie’s ‘I Got A Story To Tell’

Fat Joe appeared as a guest on ESPN’s Highly Questionable, where hosts Bomani Jones and Dan Le Batard got him to answer their two year long mystery — who was the Knicks player Notorious B.I.G was referring to in “I Got A Story To Tell?”

Most people from New York, or those who did a little digging on their own, came to the conclusion that B.I.G was referring to the late Anthony Mason. Fat Joe confirmed the rumor, but also said that some of the lyrics may have been embellished a bit.

Now days after social media had a field day with that information, Fat Joe says that he regrets even speaking on it.

“I regret saying that. See, I knew about it…[but] I don’t know if it was my place to say that,” Fat Joe told Hip-Hop Wired. “I ain’t taking nothing back, it is what it is. I’m just saying I don’t know if it was my place to say that.”

Fat Joe, who was friends with Mason before his death in 2015,  went on to reminisce about their times together.

“The whole time he played in New York we [were] partying in the clubs together. Me and Charles Oakley, everybody,” explained Joe. “I love Anthony Mason, man, He’s as real as it get. He’s a respectable guy. Rest in peace. I was f*cked up when Ant Mason died.”

According to Fat Joe, he thought this was a widely known rumor. “When I did the interview, it slipped. I didn’t realize nobody else knew. I thought everybody knew.”

Apparently many people knew, but not everyone. At least that’s the consensus that I’m gathering.
