FBI Continues To Search For Suspect Who Planted Pipe Bombs Near Capitol, Reward $100k

More information is being released to the public as authorities continue to find those who participated in the Capitol riots.

On Friday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) stated that the night before the attack at the nation’s Capitol, a pipe bomber planted two devices near the Democratic and Republican party headquarters.

A wanted poster reveals that the devices were placed between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. the night before the riot, CNN reports.

The bombs were discovered within minutes of one another on Jan. 6. Investigators believe that the devices were part of a diversion plan to remove authorities from the Capitol door so that Pro-Trump rioters could force their way in.

On Wednesday, the outlet reported that the eight-inch devices were made of “galvanized steel.” A law enforcement official revealed that the explosives contained egg timers and were filled with “an explosive powder.”

Surveillance images taken from the scene show the suspect carrying what appeared to be the bombs.

In the images, the alleged suspect appears to be wearing “a gray hooded sweatshirt” and “Nike Air Max Speed Turf shoes in yellow, black, and gray,” the outlet continued.

To find the person who planted the bombs, authorities have increased the reward amount from $75,000 to $100,000.
