FDA Approves First Smartphone App Made to Deliver Insulin Doses

The Food and Drug Administration has cleared the first smartphone app for iPhone and Android users that can administer doses of insulin to diabetes patients.

Tandem Diabetes Care confirmed that their “t:connect” mobile app that is partnered with the company’s “t:slim X2 insulin pump,” will permit users with diabetes to get a dose of insulin directly through their smartphone.

In a statement released by the company, John Sheridan the president and CEO of Tandem Diabetes Care said, “This FDA clearance further validates our commitment to innovation and the diabetes community by providing one of the most requested feature enhancements.”
