Five Telehealth Apps That Will Help You Tend To Your Health While Practicing Social Distancing

With the COVID-19 outbreak upon us, social distancing has become the new normal in an effort to slow the spread of the deadly virus. With a growing number of people too anxious to leave their homes, many are electing to skip doctor’s appointments, fearful of being around potentially sick others. Luckily, in the age of technology, telehealth apps are popping up left and right, allowing you to see a doctor from the comfort of your living room, all while practicing social distancing. We’ve put together a list of a few telemedicine apps that make it possible to stay on top of your health without running the risk of being exposed

1. Baptist Health South Florida offers it’s Care on Demand app, which allows patients to see a doctor anywhere in Florida 24 hours of the day. The service offers multiple specialties, including counseling services and minor injury or illness treatment. It’s $59 per visit, and there’s no membership or subscription to the service required. Doctors can diagnose and order prescriptions directly from the virtual visit.

2. Lemonaid: Same Day Online Care requires that patients fill out a basic health questionnaire about themselves. They then pay the $25 doctor consultation fee and within two hours, patients will get a doctors review, or depending on the condition and availability, they may get an immediate video consultation with a doctor from anywhere in the United States. An added bonus is that Lemonaid comes with it’s own pharmacy that provides free and fast delivery of prescribed medications.

3. PlushCare offers an even wider range of services including discreet STD testing, Depressions, UTI’s and much more. The service is in network with most insurance companies, which means that patients would be responsible just for their co-pay. However, patients with no insurance or who’s insurance is not accepted will be responsible for the $99 fee. PlushCare is integrated with most labs and pharmacies as well, which means that they can order tests and medications all over the video consultation.

4. Providence Express Care Virtual offers live video consultations with a board-certified physician at $49 or less. They also accept many types of insurances. While they do not appear to offer behavioral services, they do offer a wide range of services including breastfeeding support, acne and cold/flu related ailments.

5. Babylon: NHS Healthcare offers healthcare 24/7 via their app. You can even utilize their Chatbot, which uses keywords to identify causes and locate resources. The service is available at no cost through insurance plans.

Download the apps for each of these services to begin receiving quality healthcare without ever leaving your home.
