Flau’jae Johnson’s mother is standing ten toes behind her daughter after LSU’s latest loss to South Carolina.

After the Tigers fell 79 to 72 to the South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team, Kia Brooks jumped on Instagram Live and made it clear she believes her daughter “is beating South Carolina in real life.” Brooks also said Johnson is likely to be drafted earlier than any South Carolina player in the 2026 WNBA draft and pointed to the LSU star’s jersey sales as part of that argument.
On the floor, Flau’jae Johnson put up 21 points and eight rebounds. However, she missed two key free throws with LSU trailing by one inside the final minute. Even so, Brooks said Johnson “carried that game” and added that “South Carolina didn’t beat Flau’jae.”
Draft projections do show Johnson in a strong position. Hunter Cruse of Bleacher Report has her going sixth overall to the Portland Fire, one pick ahead of South Carolina guard Ta’Niya Latson.
Still, the scoreboard tells its own story. Under coach Dawn Staley, South Carolina has now defeated LSU in 18 straight matchups. The Gamecocks also claimed the 2024 national championship and reached the title game again last season, while Johnson helped LSU secure the 2023 crown.
Johnson’s star power off the court keeps rising. But when it comes to this rivalry, South Carolina continues to control the wins.
