A Florida teacher is now the main suspect in a case that investigators say crossed every possible line. Authorities arrested Daniel Philip Le Lievre, 41, after accusing him of grooming and sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl while he was dating her mother.

Police say Le Lievre began a relationship with the girl’s mother in October 2023, and the family spent an extended time at his home in Oviedo. During that window, investigators allege he built access and trust while secretly targeting the teen. According to an arrest affidavit, that access turned into manipulation behind the scenes.
Detectives claim Le Lievre taught the girl Morse code and created “throw-away” email accounts so the two could communicate “undetected.” Authorities also say he set up a bank account and a separate phone account in her name, while keeping a drawer in his classroom desk stocked with blankets and perfume specifically for her.
The allegations escalate further. Police state that on one occasion, Le Lievre followed the teen to the bathroom in the middle of the night and sexually assaulted her. He now faces two counts of sexual assault by a custodian involving a minor between 12 and 18, according to court records.
The most chilling detail came after the relationship with the mother ended. Investigators say Le Lievre admitted he “only dated [her] so that he could ‘get closer to her,’” referring to the child.
Authorities have not listed a plea, and a public defender has been contacted on his behalf. The case remains under active legal review.
