The financial situation surrounding the highly anticipated September showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao has taken a significant turn.
According to Jas Mathur, CEO of Manny Pacquiao Promotions, Mayweather has not only signed multiple contracts for a professional fight at the Sphere in Las Vegas, but he has also already collected significant advance payments tied to those agreements.
The conflict erupted when Mayweather publicly referred to the event as an exhibition, a classification that contradicts the professional terms his camp originally agreed upon. Mathur revealed that the deal was built on a series of professional commitments signed across three different dates between October and December 2025.
Floyd signed three separate agreements across different dates with different parties,” Mathur stated. “He received money for all of them, and he’s also taken an advance on the Pacquiao fight.”
Mathur made it clear that these weren’t informal discussions. He pointed to robust digital verification to back up his claims that Mayweather was fully aware of the professional requirements. “His team has had all the contracts. He signed all the contracts. We have the DocuSign proofs as well as wet signatures with his device ID, with his IP address, with everything there.”
The financial complications don’t end there. Mathur indicated that Mayweather’s pursuit of other exhibition bouts, such as a planned June event against Mike Zambidis, further complicates his obligations to the Pacquiao match. This combination of taking advance money for a professional contest while allegedly preparing for conflicting exhibition commitments has led the Pacquiao camp to issue an ultimatum.
“As of right now, the fight is still on. There is no termination of any sort, and he has signed for a professional fight,” Mathur told ESPN. Floyd Mayweather is officially in breach of his contract.
With the promoter demanding written confirmation that Mayweather intends to fulfill the professional terms of the signed deal, the future of the match remains uncertain.
While Mayweather has privately suggested to some that the situation is under control, the Pacquiao team is standing firm, insisting that their fighter deserves the legitimate professional match he was promised.
