Floyd Mayweather & Manny Pacquiao Set To Fight On May 2

Boxing fans rejoice…the long awaited Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight is finally happening! After months of speculation about if and when this showdown was ever going to occur, it was announced today that the fight is officially on and will go down on May 2 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand.

Earlier today, Mayweather let the world know that the deal was done, posting a picture of the signed contract between him and Pac-Man.

Regarding the upcoming fight, Mayweather had this to say: “Boxing fans and sports fans around the world will witness greatness on May 2. I am the best ever, TBE, and this fight will be another opportunity to showcase my skills and do what I do best, which is win. Manny is going to try to do what 47 before him failed to do, but he won’t be successful. He will be number 48.”

Pac-Man also shared his thoughts, though he hasn’t taken part in trash talking his opponent…yet. “I am very happy that Floyd Mayweather and I can give the fans the fight they have wanted for so many years. They have waited long enough and they deserve it. It is an honor to be part of this historic event. I dedicate this fight to all the fans who willed this fight to happen and, as always, to bring glory to the Philippines and my fellow Filipinos around the world.”

After his most recent fight against Marco Maidana in September, Mayweather was quoted as saying he only had two fights left in him before he would be ready to retire. Luckily, one of those fights will be the one that everyone’s been anticipating.

The two pound-for-pound fighters are widely considered the best competitors in their sport. On top of the coveted title as “The Best Ever”, Mayweather will also be risking his perfect 47-0 record come May. He also has 26 KOs under his belt. Pacquiao boasts an impressive record as well, currently sitting at 57-5-2 and 38 KOs.

This will definitely be a fight that will go down in history. Will you be watching?
