Former Atlanta Police Officer Wore His Uniform to Served as a Lookout During Bankroll Freddie Robbery

Rapper Bankroll Freddie may be facing his own legal challenges, but he has received some justice for a robbery he was the victim of.

On Monday, former Atlanta Police Department officer Justin Mikale Thorne was hit with a 10-year sentence after pleading guilty to his role in robbing the Arkansas rapper. The incident took place on October 17th, 2019, at the Comfort Inn and Suites in Cobb County. Thorne served as a lookout, wearing his APD uniform, gun, and badge, as two other men robbed Freddie and his cousin at gunpoint. Just two weeks before the scheme, Thorne resigned from the department after an internal investigation was launched into his alleged taking money from a suspect to make an outstanding warrant disappear.

Back in 2019, Thorne’s attorney Lenny Franco told a bond hearing judge that his client only participated in the robbery after his family was threatened, though it’s unclear by who. The fate of the others involved in the heist remains unknown. Ironically, hours before the theft, Freddie joked with the hotel staff about potentially becoming a robbery victim.

Though a win for Freddie, he still faces his possible lengthy prison term. In November 2022, the 28-year-old was arrested as part of an ongoing drug investigation. The Quality Control rapper was among 35 people in Arkansas targeted in the bust. Authorities claim he and the East AR crew conspired to traffic drugs. During his arrest, he had 21 pounds of weed, a Micro Draco AK-47 style pistol, a Polymer80 9 Glock clone handgun, and over $71,000 in cash in his possession. Freddie remains in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
