Former NBA Star Says Ex-Girlfriend Moniece Slaughter Owes Him Money

Former NBA star Joe Smith is accusing his ex-girlfriend and Love & Hip Hop Hollywood star of falsifying $109,000 worth of his checks.

Here’s what he says happened. Between October 2011 and March 2012, Smith says 9 checks were written from his checkbook to a Timothy Clayton Carr. Problem is he didn’t write the checks and he doesn’t know a Timothy Clayton Carr. The total of the checks came out to $109,000.

When the cops caught up to Carr in June 2012 he told them that he was a friend of Moniece and he was cashing the checks as a favor to her because she didn’t have a bank account…which makes total sense because she didn’t have a car or a home either. Carr claimed that he had no idea that the checks were stolen and didn’t suspect anything was wrong until Smith canceled the last check.

Carr also told police that Moniece agreed to pay him back for the canceled check but disappeared when it came time to meet up.

Moniece, on the other hand, tells a different story. She says that Joe Smith knew all about the checks because he personally wrote and signed them. She says that he only cancelled the last check because he was bitter over them breaking up. When cops asked Smith about this side to the story, he simply responded “She’s crazy” (which can be verified if you watch a few episodes of Love And Hip Hop Hollywood).

Smith has told police he wants to press charges but over two years later and nothing has been done. He’s frustrated cops are giving him the run-around. Can’t he have her locked up or something? I don’t understand how nothing has come of this in two and a half years.
