Fox Releases New Statement About Jussie Smollett’s Character on “Empire”: “He Is Not Being Written Out Of The Show”

Amid ongoing speculation about the alleged racist, homophobic attack against #JussieSmollett in Chicago, FOX is standing by the “Empire” actor, shooting down rumors that the beloved character is in jeopardy.

“Jussie Smollett continues to be a consummate professional on set, and as we have previously stated, he is not being written out of the show,” 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Entertainment said in a statement to The Blast.

After reports surfaced claiming Smollett’s alleged attack was staged over the possibility that his character would be written off the show, Fox felt inclined to defend the character’s position. But, once the network slashed Smollett’s screen time in the wake of the incident, the network was forced to double down on their initial statement.

Now, as Smollett gears up to speak with police, further details remain unclear.
