The Grammy-nominated rapper recently sat down on “The Ryen Russillo Podcast,” where he made it clear that he’s frustrated with how artists are relying on AI tools like ChatGPT to write music. Gibbs admitted that he can’t always believe an artist wrote their own work anymore after seeing the technology being used in studios firsthand.
“Look at AI rap now, man,” said Gibbs. “I don’t even believe if you even really make it anymore cause I done been in studios with motherf**kers, and motherf**kers is ChatGPTing s**t, and I’m like, ‘What in the f**k?’ Like damn, how long am I gonna be able to do this s**t? Cause I’m actually making fresh s**t.”
Gibbs continued questioning his own career in the rap game with the new technology taking over.
“How long am I going to be able to do it when there’s muthaf**kers in the studio typing into a computer to get their music…We in a lazy day and age, man. Art is dying, when you got to ask a computer to write your lyrics, s**t is wack.”
The rapper’s comments come as more artists are being called out for experimenting with AI. Drake was called out last year for using AI voices of Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur in his “Taylor Made Freestyle,” aimed at Kendrick Lamar.
