Questions around the future of Hot 97’s morning lineup continue after Funk Flex stepped in to clarify his role at the station.
While recent news suggested a larger shift, Flex made it clear that he is not taking over Ebro In The Morning and that his upcoming appearance is brief.
The conversation picked up after Hot 97 shared an Instagram Story promoting “Flex In The Morning,” which quickly fueled rumors of a permanent change.
In response, Funk Flex went directly to social media to reset the narrative. The veteran DJ confirmed he would only host the morning slot for one day on Monday December 15.
“I’m only doing one day Easy!” Flex wrote on his Instagram Story, later reiterating his stance in the comments to remove any doubt. He emphasized that his appearance is strictly limited and should not be viewed as a long term move.
Alongside the clarification, Flex offered public praise for Ebro Darden, Peter Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez, acknowledging their impact on New York radio and their time together at the station.
“So we are clear I’m only covering tomorrow only One day,” he wrote. “You guys have been so amazing in the hardest city in the world.”
Flex also reflected on his personal and professional relationship with Ebro, noting their shared history and mutual respect.
“Ebro u was my boss for years your passion for the music and dedication to the radio game is unmatched,” he added, while sharing that he plans to speak more about their journey during his brief return to the morning show.
As Hot 97 continues to adjust amid ongoing changes, the station has yet to announce a permanent direction for its morning programming.
For now, Flex’s appearance stands as a one time moment rather than a lasting transition.

Looks like flex is on air this morning too. Maybe it is his new slot??
