Gas Prices Drop Below $4 For The First Time Since March

For the first time since early March, AAA data shows the national average price of gasoline has fallen below $4.

So far, there have been 55 consecutive days of declining prices.

According to AAA, gas prices have declined more than 20% since they peaked in mid-June at $5.01 per gallon.
AAA data shows gas in California costs $5.38 per gallon, but that price has fallen by nearly 11% in the past month. In Texas, the lowest gas price state, it costs $3.49 per gallon.
Gas prices remain elevated despite the recent dip, roughly 25% above the average national cost of $3.18 a year ago.

Experts informed ABC News in late May that a travel boom was the cause of the summer’s sky-high gas prices.
