A Georgia woman is in custody after she allegedly shot a teenager in the face during an altercation on the road.
A road rage incident between a woman identified as Brittney Alyssa Griffith and a 17-year-old led to the teen being shot. The shooting took place around 4:40 p.m. on Sunday. Fox News reports that the woman was driving a black sedan heading eastbound on I-20; she came from the Carrollton area.
After the shooting, Griffin took the Chapel Hill exit. The teen was immediately rushed to the hospital, where they were expected to survive.
The woman reportedly has three children, and according to people inside the victim’s car, she continued to follow the teen after the two’s verbal altercation. After catching up with the teen, the woman pulled up next to the victim’s car on the interstate and fired at least one shot.
One of the passengers in the victim’s car was able to snap a photo of the woman during the incident. Several people called in to identify her when her photo was posted online.
Her three children were with her in the car when she shot the teen, WIFR 23 reports.
Griffith turned herself in later that night. She’s been charged with aggravated assault, three counts of cruelty to children and one count of possession of a firearm during commission of a felony. She’s since been denied bond, WIFR 23 reports.
