Boxing champion Gervonta Davis was released from a Miami-Dade County jail on Thursday after posting bond in connection with a criminal case that includes multiple felony charges.

Davis, 31, had been taken into custody on Wednesday by a fugitive task force in Miami’s Design District. Authorities acted on an arrest warrant tied to an alleged incident that occurred in late October 2025 at a venue in Miami Gardens. Court records show the charges include attempted kidnapping, false imprisonment, and battery.

During a bond hearing held by video, a judge approved Davis’ release under strict conditions. Those conditions include a no-contact order involving the alleged victim. Davis was released later the same day after bond was posted.

His attorney, Simon Steckel, forcefully disputed the accusations shortly after the arrest. Steckel described Davis as “actually a victim” and said the defense intends to present a “shocking narrative” that he claims will significantly alter how the case is viewed once it reaches court.

According to police reports and court filings, the alleged victim told investigators that Davis grabbed her by the hair and throat and dragged her outside the establishment during the October encounter. Those allegations form the basis of the felony counts now pending against the boxer.

The case adds to a growing list of legal issues for Davis in South Florida. In 2025, he was arrested on a domestic violence charge that was later dropped. Even without a conviction, those legal troubles have already had professional consequences. A highly publicized fight with Jake Paul was previously called off after related lawsuits emerged.

Davis remains out on bond as the case proceeds. The legal process ahead is expected to be closely watched, given his profile in the sport and the potential impact on his career moving forward.
