Gilbert Arenas isn’t here for the internet’s wild accusations, and he’s putting the legal world on notice. The former NBA All-Star is threatening to sue anyone falsely claiming he was involved in, or snitched on, a major NBA gambling ring currently under investigation.

Social media has accused Arenas of being the informant behind the recent arrests of several NBA players and coaches tied to illegal sports betting activity. But Arenas says the rumors are not only wrong, they’re dangerous and legally actionable.

In an Instagram video, Arenas called out websites and commentators who’ve been dragging his name into the headlines.

“The fact that some of y’all defamed me. I don’t know if I’m gonna be the bigger person and just let it go or I’m gonna sue,” he said. “I’ve won six, seven defamation lawsuits. So you know I know that.”

Arenas was previously tied to a separate illegal gambling case in California involving poker games hosted at his Encino home. But he made it clear that his case has zero connection to the current sports betting scandal that led to multiple arrests.

“I don’t know how that connects to someone hurting their foot and betting on bad games in 2023,” he said. “I haven’t seen NBA players since we bounced that basketball. Not at lunch, dinner, nothing.”

He also explained how the fake accusations hurt his 2K game: “One of the dudes I’m playing against called me a snitch. I went 0 for 16… I don’t even want to go to the park no more.”
