On Sunday, Fox aired its first live production, “Grease: Live,” which also shot in front of a live studio audience. There were minor changes made to the “Grease” we know and love. Some plot lines were tweaked, the cast was slightly more diversified, and a song was added for Carly Rae Jepsen.
The celebrity cast consisted of Vanessa Hudgens, KeKe Palmer, Aaron Tveit, Carly Rae Jepsen, Carlos Pena Jr., Jessie J, and Eve Plumb.
It was clear that Vanessa Hudgens was the fan favorite of the show. Many rooted for her throughout the production after she announced that her father, Greg Hudgens, died of stage 4 cancer the day before her big debut. “Tonight, I do the show in his honor,” Hudgens tweeted.
The finale was huge! The cast started at the gym and then the crew all got into carts and drove to the set of the carnival while they were singing the entire time.
“This production wasn’t about hitting notes or taking breaths, but rather about making things breathtaking. And time after time, ‘Grease: Live’ succeeded,” said Daniel Fienberg of The Hollywood Reporter.
It was definitely worth the watch! Did you tune in to Grease: Live? What were your thoughts?
