Gunna Denied Bond for the Second Time, Will Remain in Jail Until January Trial Begins

Gunna was denied bond Thursday by a Fulton County judge and will remain in custody until his trial begins in January 2023.

The rapper, whose given name is Sergio Kitchens, was indicted alongside fellow YSL rapper Young Thug and 26 other YSL members on conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. Prosecutors say the group is behind a slew of crimes including murder, armed robbery and criminal street gang activity.

In May, the rapper’s attorneys argued for his release on bond, however, the magistrate judge left the decisions up to the superior court judge. That judge sided with the prosecutors on Thursday and denied the request for bond.

Kitchens has maintained his innocence.

His trial date has been set for January 9, 2023.
